About dandelionrootss

I have been an educator for almost 2 decades. I am a co-founder of the Little Lake Learning Community, a democratic free school and I have also taught in Detroit Public Schools and the University of Michigan. My family is comprised of Rodolfo (my partner), Amaru (10 y/o son), Paloma (8 y/o daughter) plus we have two kitties, Olive and Jett, two rats, Kiki and Boots, and three guppies, Glitter, Buttercup and Ocean. We just moved from Ann Arbor, Michigan, where we lived in an intentional co-housing community, to Eugene, Oregon. The kids have only ever been at the school I started and after trying public school for the first time, it became very clear that it was not working out for any of us. So I took the kids out of school and I am unschooling the kids for the first time in a new community. I set up this blog for me to write about what we do and what I am grappling with.

Registration for Fall semester is open!

Registration for full time members (2-3 days a week) is open Tuesday, September 5th. Registration for part time members (1 day or 3 classes only) is open Wednesday, September 6th. Please register on your allotted day by clinking this registration link.

Welcome to Cascadia Learning Cooperative, a part-time secular program for Eugene-Springfield area homeschoolers and unschoolers ages 6-14. We are an active learning community with a high level of parent involvement. We are open three days a week – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Children can take classes such as language arts, geography, art, social studies, and theater, plus have plenty of time to socialize and play outside. Children can come for 1, 2 or 3 full days. We value social justice and celebrate diversity at Cascadia.

Our Mission: Cascadia is a secular, choice-based learning cooperative whose goal is to enrich learning and build community for homeschoolers in the Eugene/Springfield area.
